La La land

Well it's been a busy past few days. Hardly slept at all during this trip but it was a very productive one! I went to California again to finish fixing all the corrections on the mock-ups before they go into final production. It was nice to be there to get everything perfect. And perfect it will be! Dannie worked so hard, he is amazing. I really appreciate all his hard work in making my patterns.

I still can't show the designs until they are done and shot on models but here at some pics of me trying on mock-ups.

Even though I was in town for a very short time I got to see some people I love and have missed a lot. On Tuesday before my plane took out of LAX, Dannie and I went to Marcea's. Marcea is one of my favorite people. She is such an inspiration and role model to me. She is a professional dancer who started her own dance wear company years ago. I met Marcea when I started modeling for her when I was 18. I have modeled for her for years. When we went to her warehouse she asked if I wanted to see her wedding dress. I thought she was just going to show me a picture but she actually had it there. She pulled it out of the box for the first time since her wedding 16 years ago! It was so special to see it. Here is a picture below of her and I with her dress.
I feel so blessed to know people in the industry who I can turn to for advice and questions I have. Her brother Dale is a designer for her and also owns his own purse company called, Minx Los Feliz (www.minxlosfeliz.com). It is always nice to talk with him and get great advice and pointers on starting your own company in this industry. I love the Lane family!

It's amazing how everything is coming together. I am so excited to share with all of you my dresses. These are for you ladies! I am so blessed to have the people that are in my life. Taylor Morgan is a very family oriented company and it will always stay that way. I am so happy to have Dannie working for me, it's nice to work with someone you are close to and trust. Keeping it in the family! Here is a picture of us at the LA Mart. Keep in mind we hadn't slept in days.

I also want to thank my sweet husband for all his support. He is a sweetie! I came home to beautiful roses and a clean house. What a treat! I love you James! Also want to thank my "Mamere" who came to see my dresses when I was in town. It was nice to show them to someone in my family. They haven't really seen anything yet. Again, I can't thank everyone enough for their love and support. It means so much to me. Stay posted on everything. They will be here soon! Model search coming soon too!

Much love!

And grooms wonder why...

Grooms always wonder why a bride's wedding day is SO important to them. Well guys, look no further than a toy aisle for that answer....

It's ingrained in us to want to be a "dream" bride, with our perfect day since we are little girls! So if your bride seems to be loosing it, cut her some slack. Remember she has been planning this day for years, and she wants all her expectations and dreams to come true that day. And most importantly remember the best part of this day for her is you!

Happy Birthday Husband!

This is my husband James. Today is his birthday and I wanted to wish him a happy 26th birthday. He is the sweetest, funniest person I know. Never a dull moment with him! I love you Mr. James Hartley!

Love,

Mrs. Taylor Morgan Hartley

I'm Almost There

Wow. Where to start? My "mock-ups" came in the mail to me today from my pattern maker in California. They look great! For those of you who don't know what a "mock-up" is, it is when you make your garment out of a fabric called muslin before you make it out of the final fabric it will actually be in. We do this to see what the garment will actually look like without risking the chance of wasting nice and expensive fabric. Which is a good thing too because I have decided to scrap two of the five dresses for two new (and better) designs of mine. I turned on my own work! It happens. And I am grateful because I like my two new designs better. I guess you can say I out designed myself?! Here are my packages of mock-ups and patterns.

Sorry, can't show you the dresses until they are totally done! Hang in there, they will be here soon!

Words can't really explain how I feel. Sometimes I think I am dreaming because I am actually watching my dreams come true. I find myself stopping to pinch myself to make sure it's all happening. And it is. I can testify that if you work real hard you can make anything happen. I think I will leave it to my friends at Disney to explain how I am really feeling. And since I am the biggest Disney fan, I think this song is perfectly appropriate! I wanted to post the video from the movie but since I don't own the rights to it I couldn't. So this will have to do.

Thank you for all your love and support. I'm almost there!
