One year later!

This past weekend James and I celebrated our one year anniversary! We were married on June 27, 2009 in Newport Beach, California. I can't believe it has already been a year, it feels like yesterday sometimes.



To celebrate we spent the weekend in Dallas at The Four Seasons and went to see the Broadway play Wicked. I had been waiting years to see it and finally did, it was amazing! We loved every minute of it. My favorite song was defiantly Defying Gravity.

We decided to go swimming late Sunday night, bad idea! So many mosquitoes were out and they had it out for me! Of course James walked away with not one bite as always, but me, I walked away with at least 18. Yeah 18! One of the worst was behind my left ear. I defiantly had an allergic reaction to the bites because I am SO swollen from them. My ear is still sticking out like crazy! It's embarrassing...




My ear reminds me of Will Smith in the movie Hitch when he has a food reaction. It hurts so bad I can't even sleep on the left side of my face.

One of the most exciting parts of the weekend was delivering my first Taylor Morgan bridal gown to Amanda! I can't even explain the emotions I felt. But it was wonderful! She looks SO beautiful in it! I wish I could post pictures we took but I can't until after her wedding August 7. Pictures will come then! I can't wait for all of you to see her in it! :)

It is amazing to think that a year ago I just finished making my own wedding dress and a year later I delivered my first wedding dress right before my line is about to launch. What a blessing. So much has happened in a year. The best thing of all is being married to my best friend. I love him more than I can express. He is amazing and I love him more and more every day. James I love you!! Thanks for a wonderful anniversary!

All for you...

I am a perfectionist. I either love or hate something. My husband always makes fun of how strong my taste for things are. When I hate some piece of clothing, fabric, etc. I will express my feelings with such disgust. Have you ever seen the movie Valentino the Last Emperor? My husband and I crack up watching it because I act so much like Valentino. So quick to know how I feel about something.

James actually says he envies this characteristic of me, why? Because it allows me to design and make decisions quickly. He is a web designer and so it takes him longer to design since he doesn't have such strong opinions. He is very good, just takes him longer. I know what I like and I know what I don't like. I don't just take things for what they are but for what they could be. And when I don't like something I am quick to change it. I want to make everything perfect for Taylor Morgan because after all a girl dreams about this dress since she is about 5 years old. A bride's expectations are high, so I have raised the bar even higher.

Wondering why I am rambling about all this? It's because I hate the lining I have chosen for my dresses and so I am changing it immediately. The photo shoot is just 4 1/2 weeks away but that doesn't stop me from changing it.

Girls, I have put my heart and soul into this for you. At the end of the day I am a huge romantic. I believe in true love, I married mine. This dress isn't just a piece of clothing, it stands for so much more. It's what you choose to wear as you really start your life. No detail has gone left unseen. I have overseen everything down to the very last stitch. These dresses are for you, for the girl who still believes in love and wants to be the bride she always dreamed of, next to the man who makes her realize that prayers are heard and answered.



James took this photo, if you know me well you can see me thinking in it. And I know I was thinking about my lining. Excuse the extremely dirty hair, no make-up, little sleep look. Being a fashion designer isn't as glamorous as you would think! But it is the greatest job ever.

Edward Scissorhands

Remember when I told you how great it is that there are computers that take my sample size 10 pattern (that is made by hand) and duplicates it in all my sizes (2-24) so it doesn't all have to be done by hand? Well I still stand by that statement but there is a flaw to the system. Even though there are wonderful computers that make my patterns in all sizes, when they are sent to me they come on a HUGE and I mean HUGE roll of paper, NOT CUT OUT! Which means that I personally have been cutting every single pattern piece to every single size for hours upon HOURS, days upon DAYS! I am starting to wish I had hands like Edward Sciorrhands. It would go so much faster!



The dress I am currently working on, "Amanda," has 42 pieces to it. It's by far the most complicated dress in my collection. That is over 500 pattern pieces I have to cut out, and that is just the first dress. I have four other dresses to go!

Luckily for me my sweet husband let me teach him how to cut patterns and he helped me all day Sunday. He did a good job at it. And soon he will be getting a promotion at Taylor Morgan to assistant fabric cutter!! I wasn't kidding when I told him he would be cutting fabric before he knew it! The good thing is he now has a new appreciation for cutting. Which means I will be buying new tools I have been desiring because he now longs for them too! Soon Taylor Morgan will be purchasing two Gingher Rotary Cutters:

This little treasure is such a wonderful creation and I can't wait to own it!

Oh happy day!

My fabric I was short on has been ordered and shipped from NYC to LA to finish production on my samples! What a great day! New York City I have always loved you but my love for you is greater now that you finally have my fabric!

Fun fact: Did you know that the man who designed the "I <3 NY" logo actually did it as a pro bono project? It paid off in the end and made him famous. Good things happen when you give!

I have reached the point...

I have reached the point where I no longer want anything I see in stores. It's either to short for my long 34 inch legs, or not the right material, or just way over priced. Honestly, everything I want to wear is in my head. It's time they get out of there. So, I have decided I am going to start making my own clothes. And eventually I will make clothes for all you lovely ladies out there as well. I am excited to give myself the wardrobe I have always wanted!

Overwhelming Gratitude

My patterns in all sizes, fabrics, labels, and much much more, are being shipped in from all over the country to me right now and it makes me realize Taylor Morgan is ready. As I watched one of my seamstresses work hard on a dress for my first bride today, it was an overwhelming feeling. It's happening. It's here, my dream. It has come to life and I am living it. I have an overwhelming gratitude for my Heavenly Father who has taken and guided me on this journey from day one. He is the reason I am here.

Below is a picture of a stamped pattern piece. All pattern pieces have to get approved by me. If it has the right cut, grain line and everything on it I stamp it. Taylor Morgan Original. It's one of my favorite parts because it means it is done being changed and is ready for production.



For those of you who don't know the first bride of Taylor Morgan her name is Amanda. She is the perfect first bride! She is sweet and beautiful inside and out. I want to share with all of you some of her engagement photos with her fiance Cody. They are adorable! Their love for each other is written all over their faces, I love it! I can't wait to see her in her gown that I named after her. She will be a gorgeous bride!
