Well Done

Not much needs to be said. Kate looked picture perfect. I knew so many peoples predictions were wrong, she never would have worn strapless. It is so refreshing to see something that is not strapless. Thank you for that Kate. You were stunning and I know I will be hearing people ask for a dress like yours!

New York Minute

With moving and a trip to NYC all within a week and a half, things get pretty busy! I wish I could say I am happy to be done moving stuff but I know that I have only survived round one. Round two will happen before I know it but hopefully it won't be to bad. I think the fact that we are moving to New York City (ahh!!) will overshadow any moving stress.

So last week the hubs and I went to NYC to figure out our living situation, check out FIT, interview for jobs and such. It was an amazing, jam packed few days. We stayed with our family in Harrison, NY which is about 30 minutes outside the city. Such a cute town. Even though our trip was short, it was nice to spend time with our NY relatives. Especially since we don't get to see them that often. It will be fun living by them and spending more time with them.

The first few days we felt hopeless with finding an apartment. Rent is expensive in NYC, that's no secret. But that's not even the hard part. It's the moving in part that is hard. After broker fees, and your deposit, etc. I would say on average you will have to put down $8,000 plus to move in somewhere in the city. Big reality check. However, we moved forward in faith and Heavenly Father has had everything fall into place for us so that we can get an apartment for ourselves. It is amazing to see his hand work in our life and help us with this move to NYC. Prayers are heard. I can testify to that.

We will be living in the city in a neighborhood called Chelsea. I have always loved Chelsea for as long as I can remember. It has a nice neighborhood feeling to it even though you are in the middle of a big city. The biggest reason Chelsea is our choice neighborhood is because FIT is in Chelsea and with all that I will have to carry to school I do not want a big commute. Did I mention Kleinfelds is in Chelsea too? ;)

FIT was next on our list. Unfortunately they were on spring break when we were there so we didn't get to see much of the school but it was still amazing to walk up to your dream school and know that you made it in. I got so excited just being there. I am really looking forward to going to school there. It will be amazing.

Then came a huge high light of the trip. My interview! Let me start off by saying Kleinfelds is even more beautiful in person. It looks great on T.V. but it is without a doubt one of the most gorgeous stores I have ever been in. I can see why brides want to be a Kleinfeld bride. It is an amazing experience from start to finish.

The V.P. of the company interviewed me and was so sweet. My interview ran about an hour and I got to see the whole store. By the way, Kleinfelds now has a men's suiting department, I recommend all men to get suits there. They can custom your suits to have the lining you want inside. No detail left out. James needs new suits, even though we are already married I may make him go there.

Anyways, the interview went very well. The only downside to it was them being worried about my schedule. They did say at the end of the interview to call them when I get to NYC and we will figure something out. They also wanted me to come back the next day to meet the owner but our plane left the next day so I couldn't, bummer. But I thought that was a good sign that they wanted me to meet him. So we shall see. Keep your fingers crossed! It would be a dream job.

This cute guy also looked at some jobs for web design. He will have to go back one more time before we move to secure a job. I love that he does web design because he can move any where. And NYC will be just as good for him as it is for me. He will grow so much there in his career and I am excited for him. He is amazing. I love how supportive he is of me and my dreams. He brings out the best in me and encourages me to go after everything I dream of. I love him for that. It's amazing going through life with your very best friend by your side. Marrying him was the best thing I ever did and will do.

We ended our trip at our church temple. It was the perfect ending to our trip. It was nice to escape the sounds of the city and be in the most peaceful place on earth. We were over joyed to be there together to pray about all we had experienced that week. We loved it.

NYC we love you and look forward to calling you home. I have been dreaming of this moment since I was a little girl, just ask my mother. I have been obsessed with NYC for as long as I can remember. Now everything in my life is lined up for me to move there. I can't believe my life is so good. Thank you Heavenly Father. NYC here we come!

Easter

I have a particular spot in my heart for this little yellow dress. It originally belonged to my co-worker's mother-in-law from Europe in the 1940's. I love clothes with a history, especially one that you know. I thought it was the perfect "Easter dress" so I pulled it out on Sunday.

I am such a dress person. I would rather wear a dress over jeans and a shirt any day of the week. They are just so comfortable and sweet. Dresses always win my heart. I wish we all dressed up more than we do. Why didn't I live in the 40's? Ahh, it's okay. Husband isn't from the 40's, so I am happy I live now. Or else I would have missed out on this stud...

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter filled with love and peace. xoxo.

Would You Rather?

Okay ladies and gents, we all know the game Would You Rather....? Well today I have a "would you rather" question for you. If you are reading this, please answer. I really am interested in what you would rather do. Keep in mind you are answering these with NYC in mind.

Would you rather....(if you lived in NYC)

1.) Live in a neighborhood you ADORE that is very conveniently located to school, work, grocery shopping, laundry, entertainment, etc. Have a nice apartment, great view, practically no closet space and not the best wood floors. And have a high move in cost/rent?

OR

2.) Live in the cutest/nicest apartment you have seen in NYC but have a 10 minute walk to the train plus a 25 minute train ride everyday. (keep in mind you would be carrying A LOT of stuff for design school) Have the closest grocery store very very far away, have to pay to send your laundry out and not be close to really anything. Meaning transportation cost are higher. But move in cost are a little lower and rent is lower?

(both apartments are in the heart of NYC)
Which would you rather do?

Fom Bridal to Maternity

Outside of designing for Taylor Morgan I am also a bridal consultant. I get the pleasure of helping brides find the dress that most have dreamed about since they were a little girl. Let me tell you, it is so much fun! It's such a special moment in a girl's life and I feel honored to be a part of it. And as a bonus I usually become really good friends with my brides.

Today I want to introduce you to one of my all time favorite brides Sarah. I met Sarah when I first moved to Austin. In fact she was my very first bride here. She is every consultants dream bride. She is the sweetest thing you will ever meet. After she was married, her and her husband moved to New Orleans but we stayed in touch. Recently Sarah contacted me with exciting news that I will let her explain...

"I met my husband 7 years ago while attending The University of Texas at Austin. After graduating, we both moved to Dallas to start our careers and we decided to tie the knot once he finished up medical school in the summer of 2010!

During a quick trip to Austin, I decided to stop in to Serendipity Bridal and do some bridal dress browsing. I honestly didn't think I would find my dress that day – my soon-to-be hubby was at a work meeting and I was just "browsing" wedding dresses until he was done to pass the time. Plus, I had no family or anyone there to help me or be there to provide the "oohs and ahhs." That's where I met Taylor! She was my bridal consultant and helped me find the most amazing dress! It was the 3rd dress I tried on and I knew it was the one! She really helped me notice all the little details about the dress including, the fabric, the color and all the embellishments that made the dress even more beautiful than just at a glance view. She wasn't just the average wedding dress consultant - she had an eye for detail! She and I started talking and developed a friendship over the months as I would come back in for fittings and to order extra pieces (veil, jewelry, etc.) She told me about her passion to become a fashion designer specializing in wedding dresses, how she designed her own wedding dress and I admired her work tremendously.

My husband and I got married on June 5, 2010 and it was truly the happiest day of my life! We are now happily married and received a special surprise this past Christmas that we are expecting! We are overjoyed to start a family and recently found out we will be introducing a little baby boy come late August!

Finding maternity clothes that are still flattering can be a huge challenge. With my shower coming up in June of this year I started looking for dresses and was very disappointed. There are a ton of dresses out there, but I just couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. That's where Taylor comes back into the picture! I contacted her to see if she's ever thought of designing maternity. I love her Sunday Dresses line and her taste for classic cut dresses with a contemporary touch. I thought, maybe she could help me with a shower dress!? When I contacted her she was thrilled and I was even more thrilled she was interested! It's really special that she's helped me with now two dresses at two very important times in my life. I'm looking forward to seeing her talent shine!"

I never thought I would be making maternity clothes but I am happy to for such a sweet friend! I am so excited for Sarah and love how things have come full circle. I feel honored to help Sarah pick out not just one but two dresses for important times in her life. Congratulations to the beautiful mama to be!

Half Way to New York!

I have been and will continue to be MIA while we finish our move this week. I thought we had most of our stuff packed but it's all the little things that get you! I hate moving. And this is only our mid move. We are temporarily staying with friends (since our lease is up) until we move move to NYC in June. The only thing that made me happy about spending the past 72 hours packing was when my husband said "This means we are half way to New York!" I love the sound of that!

My cutting table has to come down tonight. I feel like I am losing a limb. I have veils and clothes to make and am working as fast as I can before my favorite/most used table goes into storage. So much to do and so little time before we go to NYC Saturday through Wednesday. Can't wait to be done moving, sewing and in the city!

Happy Monday everyone!!

Important Interview = Important Dress

Why is it when I actually need to buy a dress I can't find what I am looking for any where?! However, when I shouldn't be shopping I find everything under the sun. Any one else ever have this problem?

I have an interview I am particularly excited about. Remember when I told you I received an exciting phone call? It was the VP from the one and only Kleinfelds calling me! Or as most know it as "Say Yes to the Dress." See this clearly calls for a new dress. I am interviewing for a bridal consultant position at the store. It would be so fun to work there!

Here's the problem, I know exactly what I want in my head. I thought I would be able to find something like it but it's impossible with everything summery coming out right now. I might just have to make it but to be perfectly honest I just don't have the time with us moving out of our apartment on the 14th and we leave on the 16th for NYC. Any help ladies? I want something black or grey. I would even settle on an off white/beige. These are things I like but don't have the budget for...

All dress are by Victoria Beckham. I just love her. I have been a fan since her Spice Girl days. Now I am a bigger fan than ever. If only my budget could afford these beauties. Any ideas ladies? Suggestions greatly appreciated! I want to go into this interview with a great dress! I will keep you posted on how the interview goes. Looking forward to it!

I dare you...

Years ago after a really bad break up I had, a really good friend of mine and I stayed up late one night talking about life. My friend gave me some really wise advice that I have never forgotten. He told me I needed to marry someone who would take me by the hand and run with me in life. Not someone that would just go through the motions of life with me and do the bare minimum but someone who wanted to take life for all that it is, grab my hand, and run together, pushing each other to be our best.

Maybe this advice doesn't hit home as much for you as it did and does for me. But for me I apply this not only in marriage but in all things. I run after life. I run after my dreams. I run after progression and growth. I like using the word "run" because it implies not just simply doing something here and there but rather going after something with all that you are and want to be, even if it requires physical exertion.

I see so many people not going after what they want simply because they don't know where to start. Speaking from my experience with starting Taylor Morgan, take it one day at a time. Accomplish something every day, no matter how big or small that thing is. It's overwhelming if you think of everything you have to do all at once. So just take it a day at a time.

Whatever it is that you have been thinking of doing, changing, starting, I say to you it's time to lift yourself up and go after it! Run after it with all you are. If you put your whole self into it, it will show. So what happens next? I dare you to run!

I Did It!

Wow. Where do I start? I am truly over joyed! I did it! I got into my dream school! I am so honored for the opportunity to study at one of the best fashion schools in our country. It was a huge life goal of mine to attend FIT but I never thought I would go after it. It's so amazing for this dream to come true! It's going to be a lot of hard work but I am ready for the challenge. I look forward to the knowledge and education I will gain from FIT and all the wonderful people I will have the pleasure to meet and work with. It will be a very exciting adventure to say the least.

When I found out I got into FIT I screamed. Unfortunately that moment wasn't caught on camera but I was thrilled! My body was seriously shakey. I have worked so hard for this and it was here. I was just so excited and happy. Later that day as I drove home I seriously was so over joyed that I found myself crying as I rocked out to up lifting music. It was amazing and spiritual. Don't you just love driving alone sometimes so you can be a lone with your thoughts and music? It's the best. Embarrassing? Probably. But who cares!

Then there was this guy...
...to say he is supportive is an understatement. He is so thrilled for me. It is so cute how happy and excited he is for me. We have been through a lot as a family in the past year and all our trials made this moment that much sweeter. He is my rock. My best friend and biggest fan. We compliment each other so well and push each other to be the best we can be. James I love you so much. Thanks for supporting me from day one of meeting me. You "give me my wings to fly." These pictures were taken not long after we found out the exciting news!

New York we are ready for you! We will be going out to NYC this month to check everything out and figure the details out of our life over there. Thank you to everyone for your sweet comments of congratulations. All your comments, phone calls and text messages mean so much to me. I really feel so loved and am grateful for all of your support.

In Taylor Morgan news, we are just a few weeks away from launching my veils and online store on my website www.taylormorgandesign.com. If you or someone you know is in need of a veil, send them my way! Custom veils are also available. The above veil is my veil "Kelsey."

All my love,

Taylor
